A look at it diffuse wise, nothing special but it proves how I localized each effect per type of material.

Cless Alvein/Cless Albane, a character from the "Tales of" series. Kinda as interesting as white bread, which gave this render a particular challenge. This was made as a comission for DobleC, who wanted Cless over roy for a smash brothers mod.

This project provided interesting challenges, because Cless kinda looks generic. How do I make "White Bread" good looking? Not to mention I never tried to rig an existing model extract to 3DS Max Cat Rigs before so I can take advantage of built in IK systems. Plus, I had to do a lot of model editing and UV Editing because the extraction process of assets was damaged/incomplete.

First of all, it's a mix of models from Tales of Crestoria. I did not model them from scratch. That game didn't have the sheath so I actually had to take a broken model of the sheath and unwrap it manually. I also gave it two UV layers so I can also overlay a repeating leather normal for render sake.

After doing all of that, I had to rig this model up to a CAT Rig from 3DS Max, this allowed me to pose it really easily, of which I then converted it all to edit poly and started the re-topologizing in order to boost the polycount. Once that was done it was about setting up V-Ray and its materials for something that looks nice in the end.

But I think my final result can show off my Kit-Bashing and Rendering Skills quite well.
